Evan Schwartzberg

Co-Founder and CEO

Evan Schwartzberg is the Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder, and Head of Sales and Trading at Odeon Capital Group.

On a daily basis, he works with his team to provide transparent and forward-thinking solutions to the group’s client base. Clients first has always been Evan’s guiding principle and he credits the company’s steady growth to this commitment. He strives for Odeon to be a leading full-service boutique broker-dealer to institutional clients.

Mr. Schwartzberg was born and raised in New York City and graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Studies. Early in his career, he worked with notable names on Wall Street, including Salomon Smith Barney, Bank of America Securities, Merrill Lynch & Co, Louis Dreyfus Corporation; he held leadership positions at J Giordano and Further Lane.

Today, Mr. Schwartzberg is proud to support a number of worthwhile causes. His firm provides scholarships through the “Odeon Capital Group LLC Fund” and the “Evan Schwartzberg Fund” at the University of Michigan, where he also serves on several committees: the Organization Studies Leadership Committee and Investment Management Division Executive Committee, along with the Tri-State Campaign and the Tri-State NextGen Campaign Councils.

Mr. Schwartzberg also sits on the board of the Fifth Avenue Synagogue, is a Co-Chair of the Young Couples Circle, and is a member of YPO Metro NY – Harvard Business School group. He is also committed to many local and global charities, including UNICEF, Ramaz School, Prep for Prep, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Tisch MS Research Center of New York, the Rethink Israel Initiative, and Shalva.

Evan enjoys traveling, golf, and spending quality time with his wife, Ilyssa, his son Arthur and daughter Lily Rae.

Mathew Van Alstyne

Co-Founder and Managing Principal

Mathew Van Alstyne is a Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Van Alstyne launched Odeon in 2008 with co-founder Evan Schwartzberg. Having built out the initial vision and infrastructure for the company, today he oversees the various business functions while evaluating longer-term trends in the industry. As the firm continues to grow, Mr. Van Alstyne assists his teams with portfolio management, strategy, marketing, and meeting with clients.

Throughout his career, Mr. Van Alstyne has worked on the buy-side and sell-side, in research, banking, portfolio management, and leadership roles. Prior to founding Odeon, he served as a research analyst at DebtTraders; as an investment banker at the Royal Bank of Scotland; and as research analyst at Ore Hill Partners, where he focused on Chapter 11 opportunities in the energy and transportation sectors.

Mr. Van Alstyne has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society Colorado. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Utah and an MBA in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Michael Distenfeld

Michael Distenfeld is Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales & Trading - RMBS at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Distenfeld came to Odeon in 2009 to lead the firm’s residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) trading.

Prior to joining Odeon, Mr. Distenfeld worked at the Garrison Investment Group, where he was responsible for underwriting and originating real estate mezzanine loans. He began his career in the financial sector at Bear Stearns, where his role was to underwrite and originate commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS).

Mr. Distenfeld holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is also involved with youth leadership at the American Society for Yadvashem and Young Wall Street at the United Jewish Appeal.

William Doyle

William Doyle is a Senior Vice President of Equity Trading at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Doyle came to Odeon in 2014.

With more than two decades of experience in the financial sector, Mr. Doyle prides himself on dedicating equal attention to every account, regardless of size. Immediately prior to joining the Odeon team, he was an equity trader at Dominick & Dominick LLC. He also held an equity trading position at Maxim Inc., and was the head of equity trading at both Ticonderoga Securities LLC and Unterberg and Towbin. Mr. Doyle’s background also includes the firms Cantor Fitzgerald and PaineWebber, where he served as an operations specialist.

Mr. Doyle holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Brooklyn College. In addition, he co-runs Ground Zero, an addiction and recovery ministry focused on meeting people at their personal ground zero.

Robert Grimm

Robert Grimm is a Managing Director, Institutional Sales and Trading - Municipal Bonds at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Grimm joined the Odeon team in 2010 to oversee the group’s high-yield and distressed trading in corporate bonds. In this role, he collaborates with salespeople, traders, and various accounts to execute buy and sell orders. He also drives interest in bonds through extensive credit research, clearly demonstrating why certain names should be traded.

With 46 years of experience in the financial industry, Mr. Grimm has done it all: corporate bonds, mortgages, treasuries, municipals, and convertibles. Between the diversity of his product expertise and previous positions running research departments, he has a unique advantage over traditional traders.

Immediately prior to his arrival at Odeon, Mr. Grimm was head of high-yield trading at McMahan Securities Co. L.P. His resume includes a number of other notable firms, including J Giordano Securities Group, CBA Securities LLC, Lehman Brothers, EF Hutton, and more."

Amit Khurana

Amit Khurana is a Managing Director at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Khurana joined Odeon in 2009. His primary role is as a Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) trader in the commercial real estate space.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Mr. Khurana brings significant experience with principal investing and advisory work in consumer and commercial assets and distressed structured securities. His resume includes positions with the Special Opportunities Groups of Goldman Sachs, Highbridge Capital, and Global Structured Solutions Group of Citigroup. He is skilled in sourcing, analyzing, and trading in various special assets and structured products and has performed advisory work for specialty finance companies in both the US and Europe.

Mr. Khurana holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University.

Miron Nissim

Miron Nissim is a Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales & Trading at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Nissim came to Odeon’s sales team in 2009 and eventually transitioned into municipal bond trading. Today he splits his time between trading and managing sales for his legacy clients.

Prior to joining Odeon, Mr. Nissim worked as a trader assistant at Safra National Bank. He attributes his ability to look at things from a variety of perspectives to his diverse background: Mr. Nissim was born and raised in Italy and moved to the United States for school, where he played Division 1 college tennis.

Mr. Nissim holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Boston University. Mr. Nissim is also actively involved with multiple non-profit organizations, including United Jewish Appeal and AMIT.

Richard Perez

Rick Perez is a Managing Director at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Perez joined Odeon in 2020 as a Managing Director. His work is primarily as a sales trader, with a special focus on student loans and asset-backed securities.

Mr. Perez brings more than thirty years of structured product experience to his current role. He possesses a comprehensive understanding of structure, banking, and investor participation across all of structured products. Immediately preceding his arrival at Odeon, he spent eleven years in sales and trading at StormHarbour Partners LP. Prior to that, he enjoyed a thirteen-year career at JPMorgan, during which he rose to the position of vice president of the structured products group. Mr. Perez began his finance career in public accounting for Arthur Andersen.

Mr. Perez is also the founder and president of the Steven M. Perez Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping patients and their families battle blood-related cancers. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany

Raymond D. Potter is the Managing Director, Head of Emerging Markets at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Potter arrived at Odeon in 2019. As the Head of Emerging Markets, he manages sales, trading, and strategy for global emerging markets assets.

With more than thirty years of experience, Mr. Potter is adept at leading teams through frequent upheavals in emerging markets in every region around the globe. Prior to joining Odeon, he was a managing director and head of emerging markets at Stifel Financial Corp. His resume includes similar leadership roles at Hapoalim Securities USA, Standard Bank, and a sixteen-year tenure at Prudential Bache/Wachovia.

Mr. Potter holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the W. Paul Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University. He generously gives his time to a number of organizations, including Most Holy Trinity Parish as a lecturer and advisor and St. Mary’s Manhasset as a basketball coach. He is also a member of the Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and serves as President of the Board of Trustees at Our Lady of Grace Montessori School & Center.

James Sim

James Sim is the Managing Director, Head of FX Sales and Trading at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Sim has been with Odeon since 2015. He currently oversees the FX team as they assist clients who have an exposure to foreign currencies. He has a vast knowledge of the workings of FX markets and related best practices for corporations seeking to mitigate the movement in currency rates.

Originally from England, Mr. Sim spent eight years as the US Sales Director for Associated Foreign Exchange (AFEX) - an American domiciled FX brokerage - prior to joining Odeon. In this role, he managed a sales team of more than 50 people and was responsible for new client acquisition and retention, along with gross and net revenue, for the North American region.

Mr. Sim holds a degree in Law & Politics from Anglia University and a postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice Course (LPC), Banking, Corporate Finance and Securities Law from the University of Westminster.

Jacob Weinig

Jake Weinig is a Managing Director and the Co-Head of the Institutional Equities & Options business at Odeon Capital Group. Prior to starting at Odeon in 2023, Jake was the Founding Partner and PM of Iceberg Capital and CEO of Iceberg Labs. Jake brings nearly 20 years’ experience in the financial markets to Odeon and more than 9 years’ experience in managing hedge funds, as before starting Iceberg, Jake previously founded and ran Malachite Capital Management, a global equity index volatility fund from 2013-2020. As portfolio manager at Malachite, Jake delivered double digit annual net returns through February 2020 before closing down later in the year due to drawdowns sustained related to the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to Malachite, Jake spent over 9 years at Goldman Sachs, where he ran a Global Institutional Derivative Sales team, working with a variety of institutional investors, as well as hedge funds, and other asset managers.

While at Malachite, Jake earned multiple awards including emerging manager of the year in 2014 and volatility hedge fund of the year in 2016 and 2017. He was named entrepreneur of the year by YJP Finance Network in 2016 and was later added to YJPs list of 40 Under 40. In 2019 Jake was inducted into the EQDerivatives Volatility Hall of Fame. Jake started a program called MalachiteGIVES that was able to raise over $3mm for charities during his tenure at Malachite.

Jake currently serves on the board of directors for two New York City-based organizations; Getting Out and Staying Out (GOSO), which looks to help young men get out of jail and then thrive as members of the community, and Project Morry, which works to empower young people from under-resourced communities to envision and establish a positive future. Previously Jake served on the board of Project FAIR and on the investment committee for his alma mater, Ethical Culture School. Jake grew up in New York City and later attended Northwestern University where he graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Jake currently lives on the upper west side of Manhattan with his two daughters.

Tom Wolf

Thomas Wolf is a Senior Vice President, Institutional Sales and Trading at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Wolf has been with the Odeon team since 2011. His primary responsibility is multi-asset class sales and trading, including options, preferred equities, and convertibles.

With nearly two decades of professional experience in the financial industry, Mr. Wolf has expertise in operations, compliance, institutional sales, high-net-worth sales, and executing multiple asset classes. Setting him apart from his peers is an ability to trade multiple product lines, including convertibles, options, preferreds, equities, corporates, SPACs, and warrants. Prior to joining the Odeon team, Mr. Wolf conducted trading and sales at both Kellogg Partners and Giordano Securities.

Andrew Feldschreiber is the Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Feldschreiber came to Odeon in 2009 to lead the firm’s growing investment banking platform. As such, he is actively involved in all aspects of business offerings, from public and private capital raising and advisory services to liability management and restructurings.

Prior to joining Odeon, Mr. Feldschreiber founded and was a managing member of Alfco Capital Management. His resume also includes an associate role at Goldman Sachs & Co., where his career in finance began. Mr. Feldschreiber takes a highly creative approach to meet the needs of his clients, leading to long-term relationships built on trust and a commitment to expertise with boutique-level service.

Mr. Feldschreiber holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He also volunteers his time as an officer for the North Shore Hebrew Academy and as an executive board member for the Great Neck Synagogue.

Andrew Gadlin

Mr. Gadlin joined Odeon in 2013. He began his tenure in the research department before moving into investment banking in 2019.

Immediately prior to joining the Odeon team, Mr. Gadlin worked in corporate development at The Straus Group. Other previous roles include that of associate at Thomas Weisel Partners and as an analyst at UBS, where he initially launched his career. During his many years as a research analyst in a wide range of asset classes, Mr. Gadlin gained significant experience on both the buy-side and the sell-side. This broad background in equities, convertible bonds, municipal debt, and both investment grade and high-yield debt empowers him to provide clients with a well-rounded perspective.

Eric Gomberg is a Senior Vice President and Head of SPAC Banking at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Gomberg joined the Odeon team in 2019 to lead the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) banking practice. In this role, he advises SPAC sponsors on all aspects of the process, from pre-IPO and IPO through merger and De-SPAC.

Mr. Gomberg has been deeply immersed in SPAC transactions for almost a decade. He also has former buy-side experience in De-SPAC transactions and investments in PIPES (private investment in public equities). Over the course of a career that spans more than twenty-five years in capital markets, Mr. Gomberg’s extensive resume includes the founding of Dane Capital Management, LLC; chief financial officer at Lazoo Worldwide; partner at Atlantic Realty Development Co.; managing director at Thomas Weisel Partners; and more.

Mr. Gomberg holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton School and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. He is a board member of the American Friends of Bar Ilan University.

Mr. Quigley joined the Odeon team in 2023 as an Associate in the Investment Banking Group. In this role, he is primarily focused on sourcing transactions, due diligence, industry research, structuring and executing transactions, and supporting the team’s ongoing strategic and financial advisory mandates for M&A and debt/ equity raises.

Prior to joining Odeon, Mr. Quigley worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Akin Bay Company LLC, focusing on middle market sell-side and growth capital engagements across a variety of industries.

Mr. Quigley holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and graduated Summa Cum Laude from New York University.

Alex Arnold

Alex Arnold is a Managing Director at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Arnold joined Odeon in 2017. His primary focus is conducting equity and credit research on companies in the consumer and real estate sectors and special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs).

He previously enjoyed a long tenure of more than 15 years at Detwiler Fenton Investment Management, LLC, where he ultimately served as the Acting CEO from 2015 to 2017. Mr. Arnold’s extensive experience in senior executive roles includes both the buy and sell sides. His resume includes Adams Harkness & Hill (now Canaccord) as a Senior Analyst, Detwiler Fenton Group in multiple leadership roles, and Channel Funds Management as a Portfolio Manager. He began his career at H.C. Wainwright & Co. in Boston. Mr. Arnold currently provides strategic advisory and Board-level oversight to a number of companies.

Mr. Arnold has been recognized as a “Best on the Street” analyst by the Wall Street Journal. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University.

Matthew Farwell is a Managing Director at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Farwell joined Odeon in 2021 as a Managing Director and Senior Credit Analyst. As such, he is responsible for analyzing high-yield and distressed bonds and bank debt and listed and reorganized equity in the energy and commodity sectors.

Previously, Mr. Farwell spent 11 years as a managing director at Imperial Capital, LLC, where he oversaw full capital structure research in the power, energy, and mining industries. His experience also includes the following roles: managing director and senior research analyst at Roth Capital Partners; associate analyst at Credit Suisse; and senior analyst at Connective Capital. Mr. Farwell maintains an extensive network of buy-side account relationships throughout the energy and commodity verticals.

Mr. Farwell holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Economics from Tufts University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Rosemary Sisson

Rosemary has thirty years of experience in the securities industry as an analyst, beginning her career at Salomon Brothers. Her work experience spanned the range of large to mid-sized firms including UBS, CIBC and BNP as well as Montgomery, Knight, Lazard, Guggenheim and Cowen. After her start as a fixed income analyst, her scope widened to cover all parts of the capital structure and for issuers from investment grade-rated credit through distressed and special situations. While consumer/retail has historically been her sector focus, in recent years she has expanded that focus to include sectors such as general manufacturing, distributors, and most recently, medical-related issuers. Rosemary holds a B.S. from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business.

Aaron Dorfman is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Financial and Operational Principal (FINOP), and Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (AMLCO) at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Dorfman has been with Odeon since 2014. He currently oversees the company’s accounting and operations departments and is responsible for anti-money laundering (AML) compliance. Immediately prior, he spent two years as a CPA at Dorfman & Rutt, LLP. He began his career in finance at JH Cohn LLP as a staff auditor. Mr. Dorfman displays a deep understanding of tax and accounting principles, including the nuances associated with many different types of securities.

Mr. Dorfman is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA). He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Yeshiva University and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Southern California.

Mark D. Knoll is the General Counsel at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Knoll arrived at Odeon in 2022. He is a recognized expert in FINRA and the SEC's regulatory disclosure and reporting regime and has extensive experience in capital markets trading, trade reporting, and compliance issues. He has also represented several large and mid-sized institutional trading firms in matters before the SEC, FINRA, and multiple state regulatory agencies.

Previously, Mr. Knoll spent twelve years with Bressler, Amery & Ross, PC, where he was the managing principal at the New York office and co-lead the firm’s Financial Services Industry Regulatory Defense Practice Group. His resume also includes the following roles: counsel to the head of compliance for the Americas at Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC.; associate in the securities regulatory group at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP; and associate in the debtor/creditor litigation group at McCarter & English, LLP.

Mr. Knoll began his legal career clerking for the Hon. Barbara Byrd Wecker, JAD, in the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division. He holds a law degree, with honors, from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree in History from Temple University.

Francesca Morrone is the Human Resources Director at Odeon Capital Group.

Ms. Morrone joined Odeon in 2019. As the head of human resources, she is responsible for providing management and the firm’s employees with direction and support for the entire employee lifecycle.

With more than a decade of experience in the field, Ms. Morrone brings significant knowledge of human resources management. Immediately prior to her current role, she served as the human resources manager at IPONWEB, Inc. Her resume also includes similar roles at Qubit, Inc., Terra Holdings, LLC, and Ceccarelli Weprin PLLC.

Ms. Morrone holds a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurial Management from Baruch College and a master’s degree in Human Resource Management & Consulting from the University of Bath. She maintains a national membership with the Society for Human Resource Management.

Christopher Tolla is the Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Information Officer at Odeon Capital Group.

Mr. Tolla joined Odeon in 2010. His primary responsibilities are to manage the regulatory compliance programs and to oversee the information technology department.

Mr. Tolla has over twenty years of experience on Wall Street and over twenty five years of experience in technology and process management. In his career, he has had numerous technology roles, including that of Chief Technology Officer/Chief Information Officer at three FINRA Member Broker/Dealers. His roles have encompassed all aspects of support, development, and management of compliance and technology solutions and staff. Mr. Tolla is also a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Tolla holds an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut, a B.A. in Economics, an A.A.S in Electronics Technology, and an Advanced Business Certificate from the post-graduate program at the Connecticut Information Technology Institute (CITI). Mr. Tolla is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma societies. Mr. Tolla is FINRA/NFA Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 27, 53, 57, 66, 87, and 99 licensed and a FINRA Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP®) designee having graduated from the FINRA Institute CRCP® program at Georgetown University.
